It's the
"Ribbon Cutting" at
Rice Fun Restaurant,
Conover, NC -
11-10-20
Yu Hao Lu or Kevin,
as he's known to his friends and customers has been providing delicious
meals
at Rice Fun for 20 years. Born in Taiwan, Kevin and his family came
to the US when he was 12. Several years ago,
Kevin's family decided to own
their own restaurant in the bustling city of Mooresville. The name Rice Fun was
decided upon.
The design of the store allowed customers to see into the
kitchen. With the customers seeing their food prepared in front of their
eyes,
they began a new concept in fast casual dining-fresh, prepared in the
store food using no MSGs or preservatives.
Thus, Rice Fun had an innovative
method of preparing traditional Chinese cuisine. Another signature piece of
Rice Fun restaurants is
their one-on-one service to each customer. During a
time when gatherings are difficult and the world is changing,
Kevin has
opened Rice Fun in Conover to give people in this area a chance to try
something new, delicious, and nutritious.
Their mission statement
encompasses all their beliefs: We at Rice Fun strive for the happiness and
well-being of our customers and our
Team Members. We do this by providing
the best quality food for a good price and a safe, clean, and welcoming
environment
for our customers and Team Members. We believe that Rice Fun is
only as good as the treatment of our customers and fellow Team Members.
Rice Fun in Conover is open every day from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm. Dine-in, take
out, on-line ordering, and catering are available.
The menu includes
vegetarian and gluten free options.

It's the
Catawba County Chamber of Commerce
"48th. Annual Shareholders &
Investors Luncheon" at
Hickory Metro Convention Center,
Hickory, NC -
02-26-20
The Chamber of
Catawba County convened 570 business & community leaders from the region
for its 48th Annual
Shareholders & Investors Luncheon on February 26 ,
2020. As a part of this event, the Chamber unveiled its updated name and logo
to the
attendees. In late 2018, the Chamber Board of Directors tasked the
Chamber team to gather data to determine if it was time for the
organization
to rebrand. Based on data collected, the evolution of the
Chamber, the changes which have occurred in Catawba County and its strong
economic
position, the Board endorsed a rebranding initiative that
officially launched in April 2019. The Chamber contracted with Jackson Creative
to
conduct a branding survey, focus groups and interviews with both engaged
and disengaged businesses. This valuable data helped the
organization
better understand internal and external perceptions. As a result, the
Chambers Rebranding Taskforce made a recommendation
to change the
organizations assume name to The Chamber of Catawba County, an
inclusive and refreshed name that best represents the
organization going
forward. Your Chambers new logo, designed by Pfahlert Creative Labs, utilizes
three letter Cs representing Connector,
Catalyst &
Champion, as well as, standing for the Chamber of Catawba County. The new
colors and shapes create a circular icon that conveys
movement, activity
and the Chambers role as a convener of people and ideas. This new logo is a
visual representation of the Chambers
greater purpose, strengthened by
their new tagline Working For Business. Chamber
President/CEO, Lindsay Keisler, says,
Our new tagline, Working
for Business places our why in the forefront of who we are.
Your Chamber exists to work for business.
Your Chamber is active, your
Chamber is strategic, and your Chamber makes an impact. Your Chamber is leading
the way,
making a path and being on the forefront of Catawba Counties
future. Once the brand is fully activated, it will serve as a
guidepost
for their messaging on what matters most to business in Catawba
County developing a qualified workforce, providing a platform
of
connectivity, empowering the business community to lead and develop
professionally, and serving as a needed
advocate for current and emerging
business issues.
Event Highlights included: The Young Entrepreneur Showcase;
Guest Speaker, Thom Ruhe, President & CEO, NCIDEA.
Mr. Ruhe moderated
a Panel Discussion. The 2019 Board of Directors & Retiring Board Members
were recognized.
The Ambassador Team of the Year Awards were presented and

City of
Hickory's "Sesquicentennial" Kick Off,
150 Years of progress!
Hickory,
NC - 01-03-20
On January 3,
2020, City of Hickory Mayor Hank Guess proclaimed the
"Sesquicentennial"
Kick Off, 150 Years of Progress!
Now for the rest of the story: In the
1850s, Henry Robinson built a tavern
of logs beneath a huge hickory
tree near a stagecoach junction.
The inn was known as Hickory
Tavern. The community of Hickory Tavern
had its first Charter drawn
on December 12, 1863, with the corporate limits
"to be one square mile,
having it's center, the depot of Western North Carolina Railroad.
The
Town of Hickory Tavern was officially established on January 3, 1870.
The
name of the community was changed to the Town of Hickory in 1873, and later to
the
City of Hickory in 1889. Today, Hickory is home to almost 41,000
residents and serves
as the regional hub of over 365,000 people for
commerce and recreation.
A "Year of Celebration" was proclaimed to kick off
this historic milestone. Hickory Mayor Hank Guess read
the proclamation at
noon in City Hall Chambers. In addition to being known as a furniture
manufacturing capital,
today it's also known for it's high tech industries.
Hickory is the largest manufacturer of Fibre Optic cable
and associated
products in the world.
